Casper Ruud was born 22.12.98 in Bærum Norway and has two younger sisters. As a young boy he was into several sports offered by the local community.
He played soccer, bandy and golf next to tennis. Everything involving a ball caught Casper’s attention. He has always been a hard working boy with defined goals.
At the age of 11-12 he chose to focus on tennis. He became a triple champion at the nationals for U12 and has won all nationals he has entered in his age group . He scored internationally by taking silver in the European championship for U14 in 2012.
The thought of pursuing a career in tennis seriously began to catch up with him. He became the youngest winner of the mens National Championship in 2014 only 15 years old. He also won the mens Nationals in 2015 and 2016. In addition, he achieved a No. 1 ITF world ranking for Juniors under 18 in January 2016.
Casper continued his targeted work and started climbing at the ATP World Ranking in January 2016.
He won his first Future in February 2016 and his first Challenger in September 2016.
As one of the youngest players winning a challenger he is considered one of the Nextgen future stars on the ATP tour. In February 2017 Casper received a wildcard to ATP 500 event in Rio and went on reaching the semifinals. Over the past year he has climbed from ATP 1160 to ATP 108 in June 2017.
